Diversity Monologue Contest: SUCCESS

On behalf of the entire ODI Staff, thank you so much to everyone who came out last night. It was a truly special evening, with so much raw talent, passion, and courage. Carlos Andrés Gómez wowed us all and has truly made his mark on the Dickinson community. Please stay tuned for pictures and more commentary in the coming days. I think we can all safely conclude that Zinn would be proud. As Carlos Andrés Gómez said to us all, he would be proud of how we are deconstructing "his societal fishbowl" that we find ourselves in. Let's make everyday a 10 out of 10, and keep fighting the good fight.

A new initiative out of the Office of Diversity Initiatives, Voices of the People, seeks to connect voices from our collective past to our collective present and future. Based off of the work of the late Howard Zinn, author of A People’s History of the United States, VOTP gives voice to the often silenced and marginalized voices throughout history, be it major historical events or movements. We believe that understanding our past in a holistic way is integral to continuing to understand the present and future. We believe in the power of storytelling and thereby highlighting the power of one’s voices to accomplish our mission.
